Earls of the Jest

The exalted title of Earl-of-the-Jest or Countess-of-the-Jest is reserved for the most distinguished members of the Jesters’ Guild. The title shall have the same dignity as a count or countess of Lorenzburg and a unique heraldic crown has been created as a sign of the new title. The title cannot be inherited, it is a personal title granted for life. An Earl-of-the-Jest has special permission, and a special duty, to always speak unwelcome truths… …albeit spiced with a little bit of fun to make it taste less bitter!
