Prince Frei’s birthday on the 4th of December coincides with the feast day of St. Barbara. She is the patron saint of all things loud and banging – like cannons, dynamite and fireworks!
The day offers an opportunity to fly the ancient Lorenzburgian flag the Oriflamme – the Flame of Lorenzburg. If one doesn’t have a flag, one can make one out of paper. It could be a fun crafts moment for the children. However it’s maybe best to avoid to fire cannons or too loud fireworks in order to celebrate, since loud sounds may disturb dogs, birds and other animals with sensitive ears.
We wish our friends and citizens a nice weekend,
Carl Svantesson – Marshall of the Realm
