His Serene Highness and Gentle Glory, Prince Freï of Lorenzburg, decided to institute a new medal to award champions of Civil Rights. The medal is wrought in gold and enamel. The Front bearing two hands holding a heart and a dove carrying a key in its beak. The reverse side bearing the Princely Monogram and the text “Defensor Libertatis” – Defender of Freedom.
The medal will be awarded prominent Civil Rights activists or other well-deserving champions for freedom and democracy.
